Unhappy Days

The San Mateo County, Calif., District Attorney’s office says that Monica Marie Jenkins, 37, was drunk at San Francisco International Airport. So drunk that she refused suggestions to take a later flight and instead demanded to be taken to jail. Airport police officers obliged. Once handcuffed in the back of a police car, officers say, Jenkins demanded that they “give me some cocaine,” and sang the theme to the 1974 TV show, Happy Days (badly: “1,2,3,4,5 o’clock rock,” went her lyrics). Prosecutors say she also kicked an officer, and tried to bite a nurse at the jail. Jenkins knows her way around jails: she is a Los Angeles County Public Defender. (RC/Los Angeles Times) ...Well, at least she probably knows a good lawyer.
