Was She Even Trying?

Texting while driving might not have been enough to get Shawndeeia Bowen, 29, arrested. But she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. And her 1-year-old daughter was in her lap, rather than a car seat. And her 4-year-old daughter wasn’t wearing a seatbelt either. As for her 2-year-old son, he actually was in a car seat — but it wasn’t secured. Another driver called Torrance, Calif., police, and they and local child-protection officials took Bowen and her children into custody. Bowen’s record already includes two accidents; driving without insurance, minus a license plate, and with a suspended driver’s license; and repeated failure to appear in court. And previous “repeated” failures to use child restraints. (AC/Los Angeles Daily News) ...Wait, only two accidents?
