Washington, District of Carrion

Two vultures — the scavenging, meat-eating bird variety — have been hanging around K Street in Washington, D.C., a street well known for its office buildings full of lobbyists trying to influence legislation on Capitol Hill. The Washington Post notes such sightings are rare in the crowded city, adding the birds “are a political cartoon begging for a caption.” A bird-of-prey expert says the two are likely a breeding pair, and once successful they will tend to return to the same place, increasing the vulture population. Last year, about 200 vultures were spotted in the suburbs south of the city. (RC/Washington Post) ...Well sure: it’s going to take quite a few of them to dispose of the 535 turkeys on Capitol Hill.
