We Plan to Call Her Sparky

When a lightning storm moved toward them, Ian Gordon of Albuquerque, N.M., and his girlfriend, Kendra Villanueva, headed for cover. “I had turned and started walking,” Gordon said. “And next thing I remember, I woke up on the ground. My car alarm was blaring and I was dazed. I didn’t know what happened.” He — and Villanueva — had been hit by lightning, which apparently went in through his ear, and out through her hand. Villanueva was rushed to the hospital: she was 8-1/2 months pregnant. “I didn’t think [the baby] was going to make it for sure,” she said, but the baby girl was delivered by C-section in good health. Although, Gordon said, “The baby is still really shaky.” (RC/KOAT Albuquerque) ...Is he sure that’s not just because he’s holding it?
