When Tempers Flare

An argument ensued when Laura Smith, 47, of Redding, Calif., fell asleep and her husband, Benjamin, also 47, wanted to turn off the TV. She refused and, she says, he told her “Fine, I’ll just shoot the [expletive] TV then.” When he did, the bullet ricocheted and struck her in the chest, drawing blood. After Benjamin pleaded no contest to discharging a firearm with gross negligence, the judge in the case sentenced him to 80 days in jail plus three months of community service. Laura has her own legal troubles: she is facing felony charges for allegedly stomping a neighbor’s dog to death. (MS/Redding Record Searchlight) ...Sounds like they’re made for each other.
