Why You Should Be a Good Neighbor

It all started with a noise complaint. But when officers visited Frank Giardina’s apartment in Queens, N.Y., he answered the door with a marijuana pipe in his hand — allegedly still emanating the telltale aroma of burning pot. The officer asked for identification to write a summons, and Giardina invited the officer inside. While Giardina was looking for his I.D., the officer saw what appeared to be about five pounds of heroin on the kitchen table. Giardina was arrested and police obtained a warrant to search the rest of the apartment. That search turned up 1,948 glassine bags of heroin. Giardina was charged with first-degree criminal drug possession. (MS/New York Times) ...He would’ve gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for those meddling neighbors.
