Legend has it that one can hear the screams of the ghostly victims of a 3:00 a.m. train crash in 1891 on the Bostain Bridge just outside Statesville, N.C. A group of people went out at 3:00 a.m. on the anniversary of the crash to see if they could hear the “Ghost Train” and its victims. They didn’t, but at the last minute they did hear something else: a real train coming over the narrow bridge. They ran, but two in the party couldn’t get to the end of the bridge in time and were hit. Christopher “Nitemare” Kaiser, 29, a self-described ghost hunter who enjoyed visiting graveyards to see if he could find paranormal events, was killed, and his girlfriend was airlifted to a hospital. (RC/Statesville Record & Landmark) ...Great: now future ghost hunters won’t know if they’re not hearing him, or not hearing the 1891 victims.
