Working Hard or Hardly Working?

Everyone inside the Lion Inn at Blakey Ridge, Kirkbymoorside, North Yorks, England, at the start of a snowstorm were stuck there for nine days. Snow drifts were up to 16 feet deep, burying everyone’s cars. Spirits remained high largely because the seven people trapped in the pub shared a bar equipped to serve 150 people. They all slept in an attached B&B, and there was a good stock of coal for heat. But the novelty wore off. “They’re all out trying to dig their cars out,” said waitress Katie Underwood, 18. Katie, two chefs, and two other bar staff have been tending to just two customers: a couple on holiday. (JW/London Telegraph) ...The good part: plenty of provisions. The bad part: only one couple to pay the fortnight’s bar bill.
