Administrators at New Groningen Elementary School in Zeeland, Mich., just wanted to clarify their years-old policy. “No Tag, No Chasing” was reinforced to make things better for kindergartners. Officials told parents there were problems with children “running in packs” and “making the game dangerous.” A district spokeswoman says that students should “treat each other with respect, kindness, and with safety in mind,” so “we took the entire kindergarten group and modeled the correct expectations for appropriate recess behavior and demonstrated examples of safe, fun play.” (RC/Grand Rapids Press) ...Considering the way I’ve been seeing school officials act lately, I’m not sure I want kids to “model” their “behavior” after them.
