Zero Tolerance for Adults Acting Like Adults

When her son’s teacher called and said her special needs son was panicking, Niakea Williams rushed to Walnut Groves Elementary School in Calverton Park, Mo. A teacher recognized her and buzzed her in, and Williams rushed to her son’s side. But as she was consoling him, the school’s principal showed up: Williams had failed to sign in. “You can bring me the book,” Williams suggested. “She said, ‘Oh no, I’ve already called the police.’” An officer arrested Williams, and the school was locked down for 12 minutes. A week later, a school district spokeswoman offered another side to the story: “She ran past the desk. A couple of staff members yelled out for her to stop and go to the main office, but she did not respond to those request.” (AC/KMOV St. Louis) ...When a student panics, you call the parent.
