Colene Lameyer hired Patrick Holcomb, 51, to work in her auto restoration shop, and allowed Holcomb to temporarily live in the shop. A few days later, Lameyer received a phone call from the shop manager saying Lameyer’s S-Type Jaguar was missing — and so was Holcomb. Surveillance video showed a man identified as Holcomb driving away in the car at about 6:00 a.m. Holcomb later allegedly told police that he’d received a phone call from his drug dealer offering to sell him $30 of crack cocaine. According to the police report, Holcomb said he took the car because it was raining. While the exchange was taking place, investigators said, a friend of the dealer jumped into the car and took off. Police later found the missing vehicle, and Holcomb, nearby. He was arrested on a charge of grand theft auto and held on $5,000 bond. Court records show that he had been recently released after serving six months in jail for cocaine possession, and also has a grand theft conviction.
