Are You Ready for the New School Year?

As they were preparing for students to start school the next day, teachers at Wagoner, Okla., High School noticed a new teacher who had reported for her first day at work. Lorie Ann Hill, 49, had gone into a random classroom and declared it was hers, they said. Then they noticed Hill wasn’t wearing pants — and was apparently drunk. They called police. By the time officers arrived the school had found her a pair of shorts to wear; she was arrested and charged with public intoxication. But district superintendent Monte Thompson said Hill wasn’t really a teacher. “She was there to start in-service training, but she was not an employee,” he said. “She wrote a statement declining any offer of employment with WPS. I have that in writing.” (RC/Tulsa World, Wagoner Tribune) ...Got it: this isn’t a “teacher drunk on her first day of work” story, it’s a much more sensible “school let an unknown drunk civilian into the school so she could take off her pants” story. Yes, that’s much better.
