“It’s not a criminal inquiry,” said a police spokesman. “In this instance the play is not the reality.” The play, of course, is Sweeney Todd, in which a barber cuts clients’ throats with a razor. Drama students at St. Kentigern College in Pakuranga, New Zealand, used a real razor in the play for an authentic look — and two actors actually got their throats cut, despite safety measures.
