Aviation Safety — Godly Edition
After a Pakistan International Airlines ATR-42 airplane crashed, killing 47 people, the airline was seen taking new steps to help ensure the safety of its next ATR-42 flight from Islamabad: employees sacrificed a goat. Passengers took pictures and posted tweets of the ritual being performed next to the aircraft, which was about to depart on a domestic flight. In Pakistan, many believe killing a black goat will ward off evil. “Good move. Fresh mutton on flight menu,” tweeted blogger and columnist Nadeem Farooq Paracha. The flight arrived safely in Multan, and then returned to Islamabad.
