Burning Mad

“Most people can’t understand the smiling mug shot” says Nancy “Suzanne” Duarte, 41. She’s speaking of her own mug shot, taken after her arrest for arson in Dallas, Texas. She admits she went to American Power Yoga and set the place on fire because, she says, it was “the place that had brought me so much pain and suffering.” It wasn’t the yoga that pained her, but rather a man who she says kept harassing her. “He kept hitting on me and kept trying to make me the girlfriend on the side,” she said. “Even as I’m walking out the door, he kept trying to put his hands on me, and I was like, ‘No!’” It went on for “years,” she said, and she apparently decided that the studio itself was at fault. “Just to set it on fire, just destroy it, get rid of the devil’s temple” was her motive, she said. Her only regret: despite bringing gasoline to help, the place didn’t actually burn down, and will reopen quickly. A studio spokeswoman says Duarte had not complained about anyone harassing her. (RC/KTVT Dallas) ...Of course they’ll reopen quickly — with a “New Hot Yoga room!”
