Closet Celebrity

Theresa Roemer, 52, was so proud of the closet in her home in The Woodlands, Texas, she went on TV to show it off. The former beauty queen appeared on Good Morning America from her 3-storey, 3,000-square-foot space, loaded with jewelry, furs, shoes, and designer handbags. “It’s like a ‘she cave’,” she exclaimed, comparing it to a “man cave” filled with video games. Just building it cost a half-million dollars, not counting the contents, which was “justified” because she uses it to host fundraisers. “There is a man in my street who has a garage big enough for 28 cars because he collects cars,” she said. “No one gets mad at him and he doesn’t do any fundraising.” It wasn’t just socialites watching: less than two weeks later, someone broke in to the house and stole handbags, jewelry, and other items worth around $1 million, she says — “$80,000 rings, $150,000 watches.” Didn’t those expensive items have security? “Everyone at some point in their life has forgot to lock a door or set the alarm,” Roemer said. (RC/Houston Chronicle, KPRC Houston) ...I’ll bet the guy with 28 cars doesn’t forget to lock the door and set the alarm.
