Come and Get Me

Stelianos Psaroudakis told police and reporters he’d been clotheslined by barbed wire strung across a mountain bike trail near Bragg Creek in Alberta, Canada. He set up an online campaign asking for donations for a new bike, medical bills, and automated trail cameras to make the area trails safe. But GoFundMe froze his account after local bikers raised questions about his claims. After the RCMP investigated, prosecutors filed fraud charges against Psaroudakis. After he missed a court date, posts appeared on Psaroudakis’s social media accounts, claiming he’d fled to Germany and saying he’ll never return to Canada. “We have not confirmed whether or not he did leave the country,” said RCMP Cpl. Curtis Peters. “But if he did — good riddance.” Will police track him down? “God no,” Peters said. “We’re better off without that expense. So, no, we don’t care.” Psaroudakis was contacted on Facebook, but refused to confirm his whereabouts. “I might be living in your backyard I might be your neighbor I might be on the other side of the world,” he said. “Only God can judge me.” (MS/CBC) ...And apparently only God cares.
