Don’t Hate Them Because They’re Beautiful

The Jeju Island, a Korean restaurant in Zhengzhou, China, is offering free lunch to the 50 most beautiful patrons who come in each day. Before lunch, they’ll be paraded through a “beauty identification area,” where their looks will be judged by a panel of plastic surgeons, who are paying for the promotion to drum up new clients. “Free meal for Goodlooking” says the sign at the restaurant — in English. Local government authorities are looking into the promotion, saying it damages the city’s image; police were sent to remove the pink sign promoting the scheme since it lacked a permit. “We will be more prudent with our advertising in the future,” said restaurant manager Xue Hexin. “But the promotion will continue despite the demolition of our sign.” (RC/London Telegraph) ...If they’re selling cosmetic surgery, shouldn’t they try to attract ugly people?
