Free Thought for All
After the World Changers of Florida was allowed to distribute Bibles at schools in Orange County, Fla., the atheist group Central Florida Freethought Community sued for the right to distribute their own materials in the same schools. They won their suit. Now, the Satanic Temple wants in on the action, and has requested permission to give out two fact sheets and a coloring book in the schools. The coloring book features pentagrams and satanic rituals, along with a message of tolerance and acceptance in its pages. The Satanic Temple supports social justice and sees Satan as the “eternal rebel against the ultimate tyrant,” temple spokesman Lucien Greaves said. The district will be reviewing the material, although no timeline has been set for a decision, let alone distribution. “To be sure, if our materials are consistent with their standards, they can’t simply deny our literature because of its religious viewpoint,” Greaves said. (MS/Orlando Sentinel) ...Next, locals from mainstream religions will be suing to demand some sort of “wall of separation” between church and state.Original Publication Date: 09 November 2014
