Freedom of In-Fish-Mation
Fishing pro Mike Borger has a secret lake. He promotes other fishing spots online, but this one, he said, “I wouldn’t even tell my best friend about.” He did, however, make a video about the spot off the beaten path in Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada. And then he got a letter. Someone had submitted a Freedom of Information request, asking the government where Borger had been camping. “If somebody has a copy of my interior camping permit, which shows which lakes I camped on each night, they can clearly and easily figure out which lake I caught these trophy fish in,” Borger said. The request was denied. But there is an appeal process. (AC/CBC) ...Agency to information requester: Go Fish!Original Publication Date: 20 August 2017
