If That’s the Case
Republican Gov. Eric Greitens of Missouri has been indicted on a charge of invasion of privacy. He’s accused of photographing a woman he was having an affair with — dressed for that activity — and without her permission. His lawyers say the statute covers “peeping toms” and the like, not sexual partners. But 19 years ago, a similar argument failed Paul Henreid, and he was convicted. Now his lawyer, Al Watkins, says Henreid should get a pardon, and if the governor doesn’t give him one, he’s a hypocrite. “What’s good for the governor should be good for the gander,” Watkins said.
