Make Sure All Gestures Are Given in French and English

Police in Prince Edward Island, Canada, are seeing an increase in accidents over the holiday season — from drivers being too nice. “A good Samaritan gesture can sometimes have devastating consequences when you are looking at T-bone accidents,” Charlottetown Police Chief Paul Smith said. Smith investigated two accidents in a week caused by drivers stopping and waving someone in. While he understands people are trying to be courteous during the holiday season, that courtesy can cause problems. “The flip-side is, if I’m the good Samaritan, I run the risk of being — in an insurance world — one of the causing factors of it, and who knows where that could lead,” he said.
