Merry Christmas!

Disaster was averted at the North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview, Fla., when a fire broke out in the hospital’s intensive care unit on Christmas eve. Staff got it out quickly, and police were brought in because of how it started. Investigators say Lee Vern Cook, 54, admitted he brought crack cocaine to an ICU patient. The burning drug flared up thanks to the patient’s oxygen, and the bedding caught fire, along with the patient’s hospital gown and oxygen mask. Cook was charged with drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, arson, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The unnamed patient is no longer in ICU: he or she was transferred to a burn unit. (RC/Northwest Florida Daily News) ...Which may or may not be better than being transferred to the morgue.
