“This is what happens when you don’t shut up!!!” Katie Brown of South Daytona, Fla., allegedly posted on her Facebook page, showing her dog with its snout wrapped in duct tape. By the next day, the photo was “shared” about 300,000 times, and Brown was inundated with complaints and protests. So Brown posted an update: “Don’t panic everyone it was only for a minute but [the dog] hasn’t barked since... POINT MADE!!!” The South Daytona Police Department is begging people to stop reporting Brown for animal abuse. “Our email server has gone down, our station computers have gone down, and our phone lines are having issues due to all the attention,” says Lt. Daniel Dietrich. The department promises on its own Facebook page that “a full investigation will be done and appropriate action will be taken.” (RC/Orlando Sentinel) ...Out: community policing.
