Never Had a Chance
Shad Gaspard, 35, was at a convenience store in Coral Springs, Fla., when a man came up to him in an apparent robbery attempt. “He lifted up his shirt and showed me he had a gun,” Gaspard said. By “instinct,” Gaspard simply reached over and grabbed the gun out of the robber’s waistband. “He was like, ‘Yo, give me the gun back!’,” Gaspard said. He tossed the gun to the floor, where it shattered; police later said it was a BB gun. “He wasn’t listening so I grabbed him by the back of the neck” and took him outside, “and I put him on the ground. I put his hands behind his back, put my knee on his wrist, so he couldn’t move them.” Gaspard simply held him there until police arrived and took Jason Felix, 35, into custody. The 67", 280-pound Gaspard is not simply a big guy: he’s also a former pro wrestler and bodyguard for celebrities such as boxer Mike Tyson, and has been training in mixed martial arts since age 8.
