The 51 turtles in Kai Xu’s pants did not make it past the Canadian border, officials there say. “Xu had 41 turtles [taped] to his legs and 10 hidden between his legs.” But the Canada Border Services Agency caught Xu trying to take the reptiles in his pants out of the United States, court documents say, and they took the turtles and gave them to U.S. officials. The turtles included diamondbacks and eastern box turtles; some are worth $800. Officials say they saw Xu repackaging the contents of a brown parcel that had been called to their attention, and then noticed bulges in his pants.
