Outfitted

“I help out the community and I look out for the youth,” claimed Phocian Fitts, 23, in a TV interview in Boston, Mass. He didn’t look out much for the elderly, however: he ran down an 80-year-old retired high school teacher in a crosswalk in Brighton. It’s not that Fitts didn’t see the man: the impact not only smashed his fender and windshield, but he admits he honked repeatedly at the man before hitting him. “I was listening to my music,” Fitts admitted to the reporter, and “I was driving too quick to the point where I couldn’t really stop” — so he didn’t. Police investigating the hit-and-run say Fitts didn’t even tap his brakes; the pedestrian was killed. “Accidents happen,” Fitts said on TV. “People hit and run people all the time.” Within minutes of his interview, police arrived at the TV station and arrested him; Fitts pleaded not guilty to motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal crash. (RC/WFXT Boston) ...I’m not worried: cold-hearted criminals are sentenced to long prison terms all the time.
