Really Needs a Cape
Daniel McConnell of Brisbane, Qld., Australia, was asleep when his wife woke him at 2:00 a.m. to say a car had just crashed into the fish and chip shop next door. “I jumped out of bed and all I had was me undies on and I walked out the front and I seen the car smashed and I seen the bloke walking back to the car and I said, ‘Oh, what are you doing, mate? You can’t be leaving the scene’,” he says. “Don’t be a hero, mate,” the driver replied — and jumped into his car and took off. “I jumped in me car and I started chasing him up the road.” When he saw responding police, McConnell flagged them down and pointed the man out. They were able to capture and arrest the unnamed 35-year-old. A TV newswoman noted that “all good superheros wear their jocks on the outside,” but McConnell says he’s not a hero. “It’s just something you’ve got to do for the community. You look after your mates and your mates will look after you.” (RC/Brisbane Times) ...Which is pretty much the motto of the Justice League.Original Publication Date: 11 December 2016
