Salary, Plus Great Benefits

A sergeant from the Santa Fe County, N.M., Sheriff’s Office is crying foul after being disciplined for having sex with a subordinate. Sgt. Deborah Anaya, 35, was demoted and had her pay cut, but in an appeal argues that male deputies have sex with other deputies on the job without punishment — so much so, she says, it’s a “perk of the job.” Anaya’s sex wasn’t even on the job: the on-duty graveyard shift commander regularly stopped by her house for some search and seizure when she was off duty. “All she did was engage in the same conduct that the men [in the department] get away with all the time,” said her attorney, John Day, “but they decided to punish the one female supervisor in the 130-person department.” Her letter of reprimand charges her with sexual misconduct, conduct unbecoming an officer, dereliction of duty, and failure as a supervisor to set an example. (RC/Albuquerque Journal) ...Though she’s great at following examples.
