Charli Jones Parker, 30, a girls coach and teacher at Pickens Academy, a private Christian school in Carrollton, Ala., has been charged with 11 counts of engaging in sex with a male student. She faces as much as 22 years in prison, and was released pending trial after posting a $110,000 bond. Her case may not have gotten much attention except that two days later, a boys coach and teacher at Pickens Academy was charged with engaging in sex with a female student. That teacher is Jamie Parker, 32 — Charli Parker’s husband. The local newspaper noted that “there are more instances of inappropriate relations between high school teachers and students in Alabama than in any other state,” and that’s “despite the fact that we live in what everyone calls the Bible belt.” (RC/Trussville Tribune) ...I guess the teachers just have to learn to keep their Bible belts fastened.Original Publication Date: 17 April 2016
