Shark Bait
The man in the shark suit was promoting McShark, an electronics store that had opened a new location in Vienna, Austria — but that wasn’t all he was doing. He was also baiting the police, who fined him 150 euros (US$176) when he refused to take off the costume head. The stunt was a challenge to Austria’s ban on face-covering; the law is aimed at suppressing the burqa, but is not limited to religious attire. Warda Network, a PR firm, declined to deny it had called the police on its own man. But it did boast that for 150 euros, it had gotten 50 million clicks on the viral story. (AC/Deutsche Welle) ...And now that the story has reached us, we’re all going electronics shopping in Vienna, right?Original Publication Date: 29 October 2017
