“A guy walked up to me,” said an artist at an exhibition, “and said, ‘I thought I saw a performance, and I thought it was fake blood, but it was real blood.’” Other visitors to Art Basel in Miami Beach, Fla., took the police tape at the Miami Beach Convention Center for art. It was, in fact, real police tape being used by real police at a real crime scene: a woman had stabbed another woman with an X-Acto knife, causing injuries police said were not life-threatening.
