SWhAT?

SWAT teams run by Massachusetts law enforcement councils bust into people’s homes. They’ve “trained and equipped to ‘deal with active shooters, armed barricaded subjects, hostage takers and terrorists,’ and they dress in military-style gear,” says the Massachusetts ACLU. But when the civil liberties group requested information under the state’s open-records law, some of the police groups said the law didn’t apply to them: they’re not government agencies, they told the ACLU.
