At a farmer’s market, said Tracy Vinz, who co-owns a farm, “the customer thinks they’re talking to the person who grew the stuff.” Sometimes, however, the customer is talking to the person who went to the supermarket and bought the goods. Vinz thinks sellers should be honest about resale. The Oshkosh, Wisc., market where she’s on the board allows vendors to buy up to half their merchandise from other suppliers; it’s working to enforce the limit. “The intention is to bring in the Michigan blueberries, the Georgia peaches, and things that don’t grow in our market,” she said.
