The Odds Were Never in His Favor

Alton Brown counted on the USA Today newspaper, but when it let him down, he sued. Brown, 60, claimed former publisher Larry Kramer breached their “contract” when, not long after Brown subscribed to it, the paper stopped printing gambling odds. Brown “needed” this information, according to a court document, “to run his book-making operation in prison.” A panel of Pennsylvania’s Superior Court threw the case out, noting that Brown’s record as a litigious inmate goes back 18 years. Brown is locked up in Smithfield, Pa., where the rules forbid prisoners to gamble. (AC/Harrisburg Patriot-News) ...But he can still bet on lawsuits.
