The Perfect Judge for the Case

Gareth Tredrea, 32, of Sarina, Qld., Australia, was convicted for selling “ice” — Australian slang for crystal methamphetamine. Evidence included text messages on his cell phone, such as his quoting a buyer a price of A$950 (US$688) for 1.75 grams (.06 oz) of ice. Tredrea’s defense attorney, Bronwyn Hartigan, explained her client started using ice after surgery on his testicles left him in pain, and he started selling the drug to support himself because he couldn’t work at his regular job as a miner. “He’s got to take some responsibility,” complained Mackay District Court Judge Julie Dick. “I’m hearing one excuse after another.” Judge Dick sentenced Tredrea to 9 months in jail. (RC/Mackay Mercury) ...I’m pretty confident his doctor suggested frozen water for the pain.
