Turn for the Worse
Eugene Matusevitch made an illegal turn in Bethesda, Md., and told the officer who stopped him that “we were just minimum-wage security guards,” said the officer, Dominick Stanley. A judge gave Matusevitch a $50 fine for the driving offense, but it was after that when the BMW driver really got in trouble. Court documents say Matusevich sent Stanley 17 text messages in one hour, some with foul language — and one with the policeman’s Social Security number. Others included photos of the officer. Then came the phone calls about addiction treatment — 21 of them, all from people who thought Stanley had contacted them about getting such treatment. He hadn’t. Matusevitch now faces four misdemeanor charges, including electronic harassment, that carry a combined maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. But the worst thing for Matusevitch, who allegedly boasted to the officer that “I still make a lot of money,” may be this information from government records: as of November, Matusevitch was unemployed. (AC/Washington Post) ...Next Stanley will investigate where the money for that BMW came from.Original Publication Date: 10 December 2017
