What Part of “No” Didn’t You Understand?
Emily Morin, 26, was arrested for allegedly shoplifting in a department store in Salem, N.H. After taking her into custody, they also found drugs on her, and found her driver’s license and registration were suspended. Morin posted $2,500 bail and was released after signing an agreement stating she wouldn’t commit any other crimes while on bail, and she wouldn’t drive until her license and registration were restored. A few hours later, Morin returned to the station to ask for her drugs back, but because they were evidence, the police refused. According to police, she then got into her car and started to drive away. An officer stopped her and let her know she was under arrest for driving without a valid license or registration. The police said Morin refused to get out of the car, and the officer had to struggle to get her into handcuffs.
