Who’s Calling?

An unnamed man has been jailed in Lyon, France, for calling or texting his ex-girlfriend an average of 73 times per day — for 10 months. He said “all” he wanted was for her to pay him back what he paid to fix up their apartment. “At the time, my logic was that until she returns the money,” he told the judge, “or at least says thank you, I would not stop the calls.” Prosecutors documented 21,807 phone calls and texts. “I tell myself, with hindsight, that it was stupid.” The man was ordered to spend 4 months in jail, pay a 1,000 euro (US$1,250) fine, undergo psychiatric treatment, and never contact the victim again. The man said he planned to return to school, as he has “a passion for writing.” (RC/London Guardian) ...Though keeping to a maximum of 160 characters per essay.
