A Church Divided
The Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Ind., and the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School have been divided over an employee issue. According to the principal, Fr. Greg Vanslambrook, the Archdiocese directed the school to remove a “highly capable and qualified teacher due to the teacher being a spouse within a civilly recognized same-sex marriage.” The school refused to dismiss the teacher, so the Archdiocese terminated their nearly six-decade relationship. An official decree says the school “can no longer use the name Catholic,” and will no longer be “included in the listing of The Official Catholic Directory.” (MS/WXIN Indianapolis) ...Sometimes breaking up isn’t so hard to do.Original Publication Date: 30 June 2019
