A Pain in the Arias
A woman in Sturovo, Slovakia, had a problem with her neighbor’s barking dog, so she drowned out the sound with a four minute Placido Domingo aria from Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. According to other neighbors the woman — identified only as “Eva N” — played the aria from morning until night. “I love Placido Domingo,” one woman said, “but not like this!” The problem finally reached the point where the woman was arrested — after 16 years of playing the aria non stop, all day, every day.
