A Snitch in Time

Fayette County (W.Va.) Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home in Oak Hill to investigate a minor complaint. When they arrived, they saw a sign taped to the door that read, “Due to snitches: Everyone entering my home is subject to being searched. All cellphones and drinks will be left outside! If you’re not a snitch, it won’t offend you if I search you.” After investigating the complaint, deputies got permission to search the home. The search turned up heroin, methamphetamine, and “various other unknown substances that were believed to be narcotics,” a department spokesman says. April Lavender, 38, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and Kristie Weis, 22, was charged with joyriding — the initial minor complaint.
