I have the best job in the world. Or, at least, it’s in the Top Ten! Sometimes, though, my format constrains me a bit: for instance, I don’t consider university newspapers to be “mainstream,” and they thus are not eligible sources for This is True stories.
Still, when I come across a really good one, it’s very tempting. In this case, it was too tempting: I simply had to write up the story. But even if I did, there’s no way I could include it in the email newsletter: it would trip far too many spam filters. The result: this page!

The subject matter is of an “adult” nature. But I just couldn’t help myself: from the name of the newspaper to the location to the quote from the woman, I just had to write this story. If you’re easily offended, don’t read it.
New Blue Review
The Arlington campus of the University of Texas hosted a debate about pornography. Porn actor Ron Jeremy was faced down by anti-porn author Susan Cole, and they debated the pros and cons of consuming porn in the Bluebonnet Ballroom, according to the campus newspaper, the Shorthorn. Pornography has positive points, Jeremy insisted. Couples, for instance, can “look at some of the positions we do and re-enact them,” he said. “It’s cute.” Cole criticized porn. “It’s ironic to me that a country who celebrates individualism is eager to swallow everything pornography shoves down their throats,” she complained. It’s ironic to ME that Susan Cole could have overlooked that double entendre. The prudes in the audience probably cringed, and the Jeremy fans probably burst into laughter when she said this. (Are she and Ron now an item?)

It’s ironic to me that a person who lives in a “country who celebrates individualism” is eager to shove her ideals down their throats.
University of Texas at Arlington has always been a leader in sexual mores. I remember an experience in the early 70’s where UTA experienced a “streakers convention”. First time I saw a women in a full state of undress. And, she was riding a horse! Only in Texas.
