Alas Poor Yogi

While on a father-son hike in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gabriel Alexander, 16, was attacked by a bear. The bear was shot, but ran away, and Gabriel’s father, Greg, took Gabriel to a hospital in North Carolina. After he recovered, Gabriel was released to go back home to Athens, Ohio. Meanwhile, park officials trapped a bear at the campsite where the attack took place and euthanized it. But DNA analysis recovered from the scene showed that wasn’t the bear who had attacked Gabriel. Park officials were never able to locate the bear involved in the attack, but believe it died from the gunshot wound. (MS/Athens Messenger) ...The bear’s son, Boo Boo, is seeking reparations for Mr. Ranger’s brutality.
