“Do you have an interesting story about getting that job?” Why yes. Yes I do.
This video series is a classic Ask Me Anything, with 1-2 questions answered each week. It’s for ThisIsTrue.com readers who are curious about whatever. Questions are accepted (only) from Premium subscribers. My wife and I live on a Residential Cruising ship, and I record from my office there.
Question in this Episode:
- 0:12 Gary in Florida: I’ve never worked for NASA, but have friends who did, and every one of them has an interesting story about how they ended up there. Do you have such a story?

Since Youtube Comments are typically a vast, brain-free wasteland of obliviocy, I’m putting the videos on my site where there can be intelligent discussion. The comments are NOT a place to ask questions.

Nice story, Randy! I really enjoyed it! Thanks!

Glad you found it interesting. -rc
That was a very interesting video, thank you. I spent my childhood in Lancaster because my father, an aerospace engineer, worked first for JPL and then for Thiokol, but he was a total BSer, and when I was a kid he used to tell me that he invented the X-15. I’m sure he worked on it but he sure as hell didn’t invent it. 😆 I will never forget whenever it would break the sound barrier and shake the hell out of the house, our cats would go vertical. Some of my favorite childhood memories were going to air shows at Edwards AFB.
Now I know what to do (and more importantly why) if I ever encounter a tsunami warning. Of course, I am a long way from either coast.
Great article!

Thanks. I built on that for this article on the subject. Still, you should be safe from them in Omaha! -rc
