Classic Business Model
Ashlin Albright of Seagrove, N.C., loves the style, culture, and cars of the 1950s so much that she made poodle skirts for all her friends to wear at her birthday party. To raise money to buy a classic car, she took up welding — making and selling wood and metal home decor. The project has turned into a family business, with Albright’s mother handling marketing, display setup, and delivery, and her father helping with production. The business has been successful, and she was able to acquire a four-door 1955 Chevy Bel Air, named “Ethel” after the character on the 1950s TV show I Love Lucy. The car needs to be fixed up, but Albright is confident it’ll be ready to drive before she is: the young business owner is 10 years old. When she bought the car, she got to sit on her dad’s lap and drive it home. (MS/Asheboro Courier-Tribune) ...This girl will be going places — in a really nice car.Original Publication Date: 26 February 2017
