Closet Case

A man in Scottsdale, Ariz., says he was awakened by the sound of fireworks, but when he felt excruciating pain, he realized he had been shot — mostly into his genitals, though one round landed in his thigh, another in his back, and one in his neck. Police arrested his girlfriend, Della Flores, 53, for attempted murder and aggravated assault, after she told officers she suspected her boyfriend of having an affair. The unidentified man, who survived the attack, denied being unfaithful, and didn’t think Flores had a gun, or knew how to shoot one. Investigators found she had purchased the .32 caliber pistol shortly before the shooting, and gone to a range to learn how to shoot it.
