Didn’t Go As Planned
The clerk at a party store in Pontiac, Mich., was robbed by a man with an unusual weapon: a propane torch, made more scary by him holding a lighter. “The victim gave the suspect the money,” says a sheriff’s spokesman. Once the clerk regained his composure, “he followed him out of the store with a baseball bat,” the spokesman continued. After smashing the robber’s car a few times, he “also struck the suspect several times demanding the money back. The suspect complied and gave money back to the victim.” The robber then fled, empty-handed. Later, a man called the sheriff to report that “his son had been jumped in Pontiac and that he was forced to rob” the store. A deputy went by and arrested the unnamed 18-year-old son.
