Do the Math

A science teacher at the High School of Graphic Communication Arts in New York, N.Y., has been charged with three counts of fraud after taking 15 days off work for “jury duty” — backed up by an allegedly forged letter from the Hudson County Superior Court in New Jersey ordering her to attend trials. Principal Jerod Resnick was suspicious of the letter, since it didn’t have the right address for the court, had wrong phone numbers, and included multiple misspellings, such as “trail” for “trial”, “sited” rather than “cited”, and “manger” for “manager”. After her arrest, Mona Lisa Tello, 61, agreed to both retire and pay back the $3,374.88 in salary she was paid for those 15 days. (RC/New York Daily News) ...The bad news for Tello: she’s out of a job that pays $225/day plus benefits. The bad news for taxpayers: by retiring, she gets to keep her pension.
