Drunken Driving

Officers in Alamogordo, N.M., spotted a suspicious car that they say sped off, leading to a chase that ended when the driver lost control and smashed into a street sign. According to officers, all four of the occupants smelled of alcohol and the driver was arrested. The driver’s name hasn’t been released — because she’s 12 years old. Officers called the girl’s father and told him they were trying to figure out where she and her friends — all aged 12-13 — got the booze. “That’s what I want to know, because we don’t drink at my house,” the father said. “If you’ve got to keep her in jail tonight, if you think it’s right, do it.” The driver allegedly admitted to waiting for her grandfather to fall asleep, and then taking his car to pick up her friends and go drinking. She was charged with DWI and leading police on a chase, and all four were charged for underage drinking. (MS/KRQE Albuquerque) ...And they’re all grounded until they’re old enough to drink — at which point everyone should avoid Alamogordo, N.M.
